Hunger Games the Movie

I am sooooo excited a movie is in the works for Hunger Games! Here is the blurb from the "Official Website":

Lionsgate Entertainment has acquired worldwide distribution rights to a film adaptation of The Hunger Games, which will be produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force production company. Suzanne Collins, the author of the novel, will also be the screenwriter.

So we finally moved out of the parents' house.....again! Yes folks I am an adult again! LOL! Can you believe we have actually put up curtains?! I am hearing the gasps right now. During the whole 8 years we have been married we have never put up curtains or decorated. We are improving here. Next project is painting......and finish emptying boxes.

This was a fun book to listen to. Yes.....I usually "listen" to books rather than read. Come on! I do not have the time to actually read! :) Anyhew......this story was romance, mystery, and frustration. However, once I got to the end I was happy and the frustration fizzled. I am just impatient!

Basically, the story starts out with a teenage girl named Nora Grey. She meets the mysterious Patch in her Biology class. Ever since, her life is turned upside down with events that are strange & dangerous. She thinks she is loosing her mind but somehow Patch is envolved or the cause.

This was a fun "listen" and escape for me from the stress of life. Enjoy!

New Screaming Book Review!!!

I just finished a new book! It was not as good as Austenland.... seriously that book is really hard to live up to. However, it was entertaining nonetheless. The book is called My Soul to Take. It was a cute story about a girl who discovers that she is not crazy after all but has special gifts. I don't want to give too much away but of course the book is a first in a series by Rachel Vincent. I listened to the book on audio. A little dark but not too dark since it was geared toward young adults. If you want a fun story to forget your woes for a bit....read this one! It is always fun to read about other people's troubles for once.

Halloween

We had a lot of fun carving pumpkins this year. Juliette and Jordan carved their own pumpkin. I forgot to take pictures of Jordan's but my Dad did. I will have to get a copy to post.

Juliette was a "Purple Tinkerbell" for Halloween. I manipulated her .... LOL .... into thinking that there was a purple Tinkerbell so I did not have go buy a costume. I only had to buy the skirt which was 12 bucks at good old Walmart.

She was excited to wear make-up and spray glitter in her hair. She even got the ballet moves down too. I was surprised knowing the Juliette got her moves from me.

Wedding Weekend

Congrats to Andrew and Alison! We attended Jordan's youngest sister's wedding this past weekend. The sealing was such a special event. Right after the ceremony, we were able to have a small reception with a dinner. Juliette wore her favorite white dress. She looked like a doll. She was so excited to see Ali in her wedding dress.

Everyone kept saying how Juliette looked like me. One person asked if I looked like Juliette when I was her age. I am not sure but you be the judge. Here is a picture of my family. I am the one on the right.

Current Favorite Book

Okay girls....if you are looking for a cute quick read, I would suggest Austenland by Shannon Hale. I absolutely loved this book! Such a guilty pleasure. For more information on the author go to: http://www.squeetus.com/stage/books_austen.html

Basically the book is about a 30 something chick who is obsessed with Mr. Darcy. Okay so who isn't?! I mean Pride and Prejudice was one of my all time favs! My heart skips a beat when Mr. Darcy is waking through the field at the end of the movie. Okay, hormones in check.....back to the book. So her rich Aunt decides to leave in her will an all paid expense trip to Austenland to role play Jane Austen's books. Fun little love story.

I have to admit, when I finished the book I was sooo tempted to find a vacation where I can role play this era. A girl can dream. In the meantime, check out the book. I had a lot of fun with it.

So it has been quite awhile since I have submitted anything on my blog. I really do not have any significant updates. I have a new calling in church as Valiant 10 teacher with the hubby. However, I am getting ready for my sister's baby shower I am hosting this month. I am excited!

I made some for my brother's birthday to test it out. It was a huge hit. The Bakerella Blog also gives really great ideas for this recipe too.
I signed up for a cake decorating class this week. Hopefully I will learn some fun techniques to help with the food for the shower. I also got the invitations completed. So cute if I do say so myself. As soon as I have it scanned I will post it.
I hope to post to the blog once a week. It is a goal. I just hope I stick to it. No promises people!

April 2009 Conference

Conference was wonderful. There were so many talks that I really needed to hear, especially during this hard economic downturn. One of my favorite quotes was, I believe, from President Thomas Monson. He said that our future is as bright as our faith. One talk that really spoke to me was from Elder Holland. Sponge Curlers

Last Wednesday I took Juliette to the store to buy her first make-up. Everytime I apply my make-up I hear from Juliette, "I want some"! She is a girl through and through. We bought some eyeshadow at the store and gathered all of the old make-up that wasn't being used. After her make-up was applied she was not quite sure of the outcome. She did not think she was pretty with all of the make-up and asked to take it off. After we took it off then she declared how pretty she was. I took some pictures of our masterpiece.

The Stitches Club

Well Juliette had joined the stitches club! Warning the pictures are not for the weak stomachs. She was playing underneath a metal table and before it came crashing down on her, she stopped it with her hand and sliced her finger instead. I just about lost it when I talked to Juliette on the phone at work. She was sobbing on the phone telling me that her finger was injured. Jordan took her to urgent care to get stitches with her precious blanket in hand. However, I think she shed a bucket of tears crying over the anticipated shots rather than the actual cut. Jordan had to hold her down when they gave her the shots to numb the finger. The first thing she told me when I got home that the doctor took a picture of her bones and she got to see it. Now she goes around flashing her middle finger showing her wound. :) Juliette has assured me that her finger feels all better. I think it is because she is all doped up on drugs.

Juliette's First Snow Adventure

We took Juliette up north to see the snow. We pulled off at a road off the highway. Jordan parked the truck on the ice but we quickly learned that was not a good idea. When Jordan tried to get Juliette out of her carseat the truck started to slide backwards. Thankfully Jordan and I were able to stop the truck and move it to a safer place.
Unfortunately, the climate was so cold that the snow froze. We were not able to make snowballs or even a snowman. However, she enjoyed the experience until she got into the truck to go home. She did not realize how cold it was until she started to shake from the cold. She was so cold she cried. We bundled her up in blankets until the heater warmed her up.

The Bead Incident

Last Friday I took Juliette to her yearly check-up with her doctor. Of course, Juliette was scared out of her mind because she knew she would get a shot. When the doctor checked her ears the doctor told me there was a bead in her ear. "A bead?", I thought. I was thinking she was referring to a bead of wax, of course there was beads of wax in her ear, what else would there be in her ears? I looked inside her ear and behold a green bead was stuck in her ear. I was freaking out wondering how we are going to get this bead out of her ear. Furthermore, her other ear had a bead inside too. Ugh! Thankfully they were able to flush the beads out of her ears. She screamed loudly throughout the whole proceedure. I assume Juliette will not be sticking anything in her ears.
